Meet Patsy’s Owner Lindsay Nordyke

Lindsay1

Morning, brides! Today we have a fun Q&A with Patsy’s owner Lindsay Nordyke. Read on to find out what her wedding style was, how she got into the bridal gown business and her favorite Dallas spots to eat and shop!

What made you interested in opening a bridal boutique?

LN: I have always loved bridal. There was just something about it. The only day you get to wear a big beautiful dress. After designing I wanted to work directly with customers and show them what they could do to make the gown their own. I love seeing women find their dream dress.

What is your background in bridal dresses?

LN: I majored in fashion design and photography at Baylor University and became a designer for Bridal and Bridesmaids designer Watters after college. I even designed for a modest bridal company for a time.

What has been your greatest accomplishment/joy with Patsy’s?

LN: Making Patsy’s current has been such a joy. Being able to put a spin on the traditional is what we are all about.

What was your personal wedding style?

LN: I wore a lace gown for my wedding. It was almost 10 years ago and no one was really doing lace yet. Oscar de la Renta had just debuted a white lace high-low hemmed gown and I fell in love. I did get to design my own gown which was amazing and we ended up piecing narrow strips of lace together to make the fabric. I am forever indebted to all the people who helped make my one of a kind gown a reality.

Do you have a favorite dress or style?

LN: I feel like my style changes all the time. One day I love sleek and modern and the next day a boho ethereal gown, and of course you can never go wrong with lace! I do think there is a style for every occasion, I always tell brides it is about deciding “who you want to be” on your wedding day.

What is your favorite part about working with brides?

LN: Hearing all of their details and imagining it all coming together. I love to help women feel beautiful and the best version of themselves. Lindsay2

When you’re not working in the boutique, what do you enjoy doing outside of work?

LN: Playing with my daughter, spending time with my husband, traveling, and dabbling in interior design.

Just for fun, where is your favorite spot to shop in Dallas? What about eat?

LN: Of course I love Northpark and just about everything in it. But recently I have frequented a designer resale shop call Clothes Circuit and I can’t get enough. I have found some spectacular deals there!

Eating! I love food! To pick my  favorite restaurant you would have to pick a genre for me! My husband and I did find this adorable little spot in Deep Ellum called Joyce and Gigi’s. We had the sweetest evening there and the empanadas are delish.

What’s your best piece of advice for brides-to-be everywhere?

LN: Prepare for your marriage as much as you prepare for your wedding.
